CHIEF ESTIMATOR


Job duties: 
Review concept drawings and specifications to establish project budgets. Evaluate initial project plans to prepare comprehensive cost estimates for complex wood components, including fabrication and installation of each component. Analyze architectural plans, blueprints, production needs, and labor costs to prepare estimates to use in project planning and scheduling work. Correspond with vendors and subcontractors to secure pricing and availability of raw materials. Coordinate with shop personnel to resolve any blatant engineering/fabrication issues that could pose delays in the manufacturing process. Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects and services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as large-scale projects develop. Monitor market trends that potentially affect raw material pricing. Attend bid meetings with key clients to discuss initial proposal; and offer alternatives in terms of value engineering and/or higher quality aesthetics for the end user.
Work location: Jersey City, NJ
Hours/week: 40 (Fill-time)
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Forest or Industrial Engineering (or foreign equivalent) and 2 years of related project planning experience in the woodworking industry required, including experience with AUTOCAD and interpreting architectural woodworking engineering drawings. AWI Advanced Estimating certificate required. Brief domestic travel required.

JUNIOR ESTIMATOR

Location: Jersey City, NJ
Schedule: part or full time
Experience: not required
Skills required: teamwork, written communication, flexibility, self-motivation, planning and organizing
Computer skills required: intermediate level Microsoft office, intermediate/advance level Microsoft excel.
Candidate has potential for a long term advancement to sr. Estimator. Scope of work includes organizing of bids, take offs, organizing bids, basic estimating, communication with clients, follow up of estimates.

ARCHITECTURAL WOODWORKING ENGINEER

Computer skills required: intermediate level auto cad, autodesk inventor or solidworks
Candidate has potential for a long term advancement to senior Engineer.
